Terms of service
These terms apply to every order. The seller is Second Look Bids LLC, a single-member Idaho LLC owned by Neal Smith ("Second Look Bids" below).
1. Advisory only
A bid review or takeoff is advisory information. It is not engineering, design, code review or plan review. It is not a guarantee of any vendor's price, scope, quantities or schedule. Vendors set their own prices, scope, schedules and terms. Adjusted totals use my own local cost estimates for excluded items; they're estimates, not quotes. Structural questions go to the engineer of record.
2. You decide and you verify
You make the final bid and purchase decision. You're responsible for verifying quantities, scope and price directly with the vendor, and against the current plans, before ordering. Second Look Bids isn't responsible for work done from superseded plans or for your choice of vendor.
3. Liability capped at the fee paid
Second Look Bids' total liability for any claim connected to the service, however it arises, is limited to the fee you paid for that job.
4. No consequential damages
Second Look Bids isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, including lost profits, delays, schedule impacts, re-ordering, extra or wasted material, or the cost of materials ordered.
5. Files used only for your job
Your documents and vendor quotes are used only for your job. They aren't shared and aren't used for any other purpose or by any other business. AI software helps with takeoffs and drafting, so your files pass through those tools. I check every number before it goes out. You confirm you're allowed to share each quote, since some quotes are marked confidential.
6. Records and deletion
Your plans, quote files and working files are deleted 12 months after delivery, or sooner if you ask. I keep a short record of each job: your intake answers, the invoice, the date, and a copy of the 1-page summary I delivered. That record exists so I can show what was delivered if there's ever a dispute.
7. Refunds and redo
No charge until your files are approved. Full refund if you cancel before work starts. Once work starts there are no refunds for a change of mind, but: (a) my own errors reported within 30 days are fixed free; (b) if I can't fix an error, or I miss the turnaround by more than 5 business days without your OK, you get a full refund on request; (c) plan changes and new vendor quotes are revisions, not errors. Disagreeing with a judgment call isn't an error, but I'll explain my reasoning in writing. A refund under this term is the most you can recover (term 3).
8. Revisions
Bid Review: one free update if a vendor revises within 14 days of delivery and the plans haven't changed; after that, $200 per updated quote. Takeoff: one minor plan revision (under 10% of any trade's quantities) within 30 days included; bigger revisions are quoted.
9. Testimonials
Asked for only after delivery. Used only with your written OK on the exact wording, and never with prices or vendor names.
10. Payment
You're charged only after your files are approved. I email you an invoice or payment link, paid through Stripe (card or bank transfer). Stripe's own terms and privacy policy apply to checkout.
11. No vendor contact
I don't contact vendors or negotiate for you. You send the clarification questions.
